چکیده

Non-precious metal single-atom catalysts (NPM-SACs) with unique electronic structures and coordination environments have gained much attention in electrocatalysis owing to their low cost, high atomic utilization, performance. NPM-SACs on carbon support (NPM-SACs/CS) are promising because of the substrate a large surface area, excellent electrical conductivity, chemical stability. This review provides an overview recent developments NPM-SACs/CS for electrocatalytic field. First, state-of-the-art synthesis methods advanced characterization techniques discussed detail. Then, structural adjustment strategy optimizing performance is introduced concisely. Furthermore, we provide comprehensive summary advances developing important electrochemical reactions, including dioxide reduction reaction, hydrogen evolution oxygen nitrogen reaction. In end, existing challenges future opportunities field highlighted.

Identification of carbon-encapsulated iron nanoparticles as active species in non-precious metal oxygen reduction catalysts

The widespread use of fuel cells is currently limited by the lack of efficient and cost-effective catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction. Iron-based non-precious metal catalysts exhibit promising activity and stability, as an alternative to state-of-the-art platinum catalysts. However, the identity of the active species in non-precious metal catalysts remains elusive, impeding the developm...

Graphyne-supported single Fe atom catalysts for CO oxidation.

Single atom catalysts (SACs) are highly desirable for the effort to maximize the efficiency of metal atom use. However, the synthesis of SACs is a major challenge that largely depends on finding an appropriate supporting substrate to achieve a well-defined and highly dispersed single atom. This work demonstrates that, based on the density functional theory (DFT) calculation, graphyne is a good ...

Graphitic carbon nitride supported single-atom catalysts for efficient oxygen evolution reaction.

Based on DFT calculations, we propose a TM@CN hybrid structure, in which the single-atom transition metal (TM = Pt, Pd, Co, Ni, Cu) is supported by graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN), as a promising high-performance OER catalyst. Our work reveals the importance of local TM coordination in catalysts for the OER, which would lead to a new class of low-cost, durable and efficient OER catalysts.

1. Materials synthesis and characterization Catalyst synthesis: Commercially available TiO 2 , with the particle size ranging from 50 to 150 nm and in the B.E.T. surface area from 50 to 100 m 2 /g, was first treated in 0.5 M HCl solution for 24 hours to remove impurities. In a typical approach to the synthesis of the PANI-Fe-TiO 2 catalyst, 2.0 mL aniline was first dispersed in 0.5 M HCl soluti...
